CONFERENCE WITH JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION FAKE OFF – MISINFORMATION AND THE LAW
Our founding partner Claire Poirson held a conference organised last week by FAKE OFF on the French and European legal frameworks governing personal data, social media and AI to tackle misinformation.
📢📰 FAKE OFF is an association of journalists from all media aiming to raise awareness against mass misinformation.
This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the following topics :
☑️ European regulations on social networks, in particular the Digital Services Act (DSA) regulation, which imposes obligations of transparency and content moderation
☑️ Possible civil and criminal proceedings against perpetrators of fakes news, deepfakes or cyberharassment
☑️ The provisions of the new law adopted on 21 May 2024 aiming at securing and regulating the digital space (“loi SREN”)
☑️ The impact of the law adopted on 30 July 2021 relating to the prevention of acts of terrorism and to intelligence services, on requests for identification of Internet users
☑️ Protection of minors on the Internet
☑️ Journalists’ intellectual property rights on content posted online
☑️ The new European regulation on AI (AI Act).
Many thanks to the FAKE OFF collective for these rich exchanges and to Marie Fortunato and Hélène Goutany for their invitation!
