INTERVIEW – LE POINT: Is There Only One Truth?
Our partner Claire Poirson was interviewed by the French newspaper Le Point to discuss deepfakes and the challenges these technologies pose to truth, trust and the rule of law.
A major issue for our civilisation, at a time when Artificial Intelligence is redefining our certainties.
Is truth disappearing?
With the global rise of deepfakes—those AI-generated hyper-manipulations—an image, a voice, a video… everything can be fabricated, sometimes more convincingly than reality itself. This is no longer science fiction: it is our everyday life, and it poses a profound threat to our democracies, our companies, and to the rights of individuals whose images and voices are being tampered with.
When evidence becomes manipulable, what remains of truth… and of trust in others?

👉 In this interview, Claire Poirson shares key insights from two years of research within FIRSH LAB, our innovation laboratory, carried out in collaboration with international experts (India, South Korea, the United States, Spain, Denmark, the United Kingdom).
We discuss in particular:
✅ The first conviction in France based on the new offence of sexual deepfake (art. 226-8-1 of the Criminal Code), introduced by the SREN Act (Law No. 2024-449 of 21 May 2024).
✅ The essential pillars for an effective response to the proliferation of deepfakes:
• Educating critical thinking from a very young age
• Breaking virality: penalising the author, the first distributor, and even those who re-share
• Mobilising the State: training, adequate resources, swift online takedown, support for victims—and in particular adolescent victims
• Acting fast: implementing a comprehensive legal strategy in the first hours
