Our founding partner, Claire Poirson, took part in the ITechLaw Association 2024 European Conference in Munich from October 30 to November 1, 2024, where numerous experts from around the world explore global and comparative legal frameworks and trends in technology law.

On this occasion, Claire Poirson moderated a panel discussion with Paulina Maślak-Stępnikowska of WKB Lawyers, “Everything in Moderation: Online Content Moderation & Free Speech.”  Moderation has become a major issue today, because faced with the amplification of exchanges, the proliferation of illicit content and the manipulation of information, it was no longer possible to entrust the “policing” of illicit content to the judiciary alone and, in a residual way, to platforms. However, with the emergence of new legal provisions advocating moderation, the collective fear was that web platforms would set themselves up as the “Internet police”. Moderation can be effective, but it can also be very dangerous, as it gives platforms the right to censor thoughts and restrict freedom of expression…
